Eyeshot Web Service

Take advantage of Eyeshot engine capabilities from any platform

Eyeshot Web Service is a secure hosted service that provides access to Eyeshot engine in the cloud. The WebSocket based hosted service allows content to be passed via a SOAP interface.

EWS was designed to take advantage of Eyeshot engine capabilities from any platform. It can be used to generate high quality images from a list of CAD files, to prepare geometry for 3D printing, to build quotes based on geometry metrics, to convert CAD files and much more.

Currently it can be used for:

  1. Generate raster images from uploaded geometry
  2. Perform bidirectional conversion between STL, OBJ, DWG/DXF, IGES and STEP file formats
  3. Convert STL, OBJ, DWG/DXF, IGES and STEP file formats to WebGL and XML
  4. Generate bill of materials (BOMs) from uploaded geometry
  5. Reposition (Translate, Rotate, Scale) the geometry
  6. Compute geometry area and volume properties

What we plan to add:

  • The ability to check the uploaded model against a number of 3D point generated by a CMM
  • The ability to generate 2D vector layouts from 3D geometry
  • The ability generate a (360 degrees) number of raster images from the same 3D model
  • The ability to upload a point cloud and get a 3D mesh
  • The ability to do 3D modeling by a scripting language
  • The support for ASC and LAS file
  • The ability to build a 3D model from MRI or TC scans
  • What you ask most. We can access all available model data: tessellation, B-Rep, topology and geometry, full product structure.

Conversion to XML

Eyeshot Web Service can take any standard CAD exchange file and convert it to XML. The resulting XML file will contain the complete geometry data, including:

  1. Assembly structure
  2. Block list
  3. Layer list
  4. General units and block units
  5. Full 3D boundary representation (BRep)
  6. Trimmed nurbs surfaces
  7. BlockReference with attributes
  8. Standard CAD curves like point, line, circle, arc, spline, composite curve, etc.
  9. Entity layer, color, color method and visibility status.
  10. Polyhedral mesh objects

Conversion to raster image

Eyeshot Web Service can take any standard CAD exchange file and convert it to a raster image (*.bmp). The geometry can be easily translated, rotated or scaled before generating the image itself and you have full control on the background style and color.

Conversion to WebGL

Eyeshot Web Service can take any standard CAD exchange file and convert it to WebGL (*.html). This easily distributable datatype (viewable on any WebGL compatible browser) enables the offline viewing of CAD data.

Getting Started
